About
Societies
ANZSCTS was formed to serve the medico political needs of cardiothoracic surgeons in Australia and New Zealand. It has amalgamated with the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). The society plays an important role in the development of cardiac surgery services in Australia. The society in conjunction with the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ) maintains the journal, Heart Lung and Circulation.
The CTVP SIG is managed by the Anaesthesia Continuing Education (ACE) partnership, a tripartite body governed by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA), the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA), and the New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists (NZSA). ACE promotes and co-ordinates combined continuing medical education activities in anaesthesia and related disciplines. It manages 17 SIGs that allow anaesthetists and other medical specialists to study, report and develop educational events in specific areas of anaesthesia in which they have an interest or skills. ANZCA is the secretariat for the CTVP SIG and one of the largest specialist medical colleges in Australia and New Zealand. The college is the region’s foremost authority on anaesthesia, pain medicine and perioperative medicine.
ANZCP is the peak body representing certified perfusionists in Australia and New Zealand. It is a not-for-profit, member association committed to professionally supporting its members through serving as a regulatory body to promote and uphold standards, providing high quality education, training and on-going professional development. The ANZCP is a collaborative and inclusive college that aims to further the industry of perfusion, both nationally and internationally.
The formation of IACA marks a historic milestone as the first worldwide alliance of cardiac anaesthesia, intensive care and perioperative medicine societies who are dedicated exclusively to the care of patients undergoing cardiothoracic and vascular procedures.
Our mission is to promote the highest quality patient care and safety by fostering international collaboration in education, quality improvement, and research. Our member societies and their leaders are dedicated to this mission, and we are proud to welcome them on board. Through a shared commitment to education, research, and professional development, we will promote excellence and innovation in these areas, ensuring the best outcomes for our patients. By uniting our collective expertise and resources, IACA will foster unprecedented levels of communication, collaboration, education, research, and networking among cardiac anaesthesiologists wherever they practice.
We are particularly excited to announce that the 2025 3SCTS meeting in Sydney also marks the inaugural IACA meeting. The biennial IACA meeting is a direct continuation of the former ICCVA meetings, which we have all enjoyed for many years. We look forward to seeing everyone in Sydney to witness the start of a new era of global cardiac anaesthesia collaboration.
